McAuley Residence—a department of Northern Light Mercy Hospital—has served at-risk women and their children for over 38 years. Our Bangor-based program, now in its fifth year of operation, offers 18–24 months of transitional housing and wraparound support for pregnant and parenting women in recovery from substance use disorder, or those working toward reunification with a child under the age of 10. Parenting or pregnancy is a core eligibility requirement for the Bangor program.

McAuley also operates two additional locations in Portland—where participants reside in their own apartments. In contrast, the Bangor program features a community-living model: mothers share a room with their child and access shared common spaces, fostering connection, accountability, and mutual support among residents.
