Wellspring has evolved over the years from its roots as a residential halfway house for men with alcohol dependency in 1965 to a comprehensive continuum of substance use disorder treatment programs serving adult men and women, including those with co-occurring disorders. Wellspring provides 7-10 day Detox/withdrawal management at the New Horizons Detox Center in Hampden, as well as up to 180 day gender-specific residential substance use disorder treatment for adult men and adult women, as well as a third residential treatment program for pregnant or parenting mothers and their young (under age 6) children. This program also provides services for up to 180 days. Additionally, Wellspring provides outpatient individual and group treatment for substance use disorder, including Intensive Outpatient Services (IOP), as well as individual outpatient counseling for mental health and co-occurring substance use disorder. Wellspring is a public, non-profit center and accepts Medicare and Mainecare, as well as a number of private insurances. Some grant dollars are available to help those with no form of health insurance coverage. All residential and outpatient services serve people from across the state of Maine, with all services being provided in Bangor or via Telehealth (for outpatient).
